Both the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 share a similar design, although there are key differences between the two tablets, which include the displays, storage, the processor and more.

The iPad 2 features a 9.7 inch touchscreen display which has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and 134 ppi, the iPad 3 also features a 9.7 inch display although it has a higher resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at 264 ppi.

The iPad 2 is powered by a dual core A5 Apple processor and it also features dual core graphics, the iPad 3 features a dual core A5x processor which is faster than the one in the iPad 2, and it comes with quad core graphics instead of dual core graphics.

Both the iPad 2 and iPad 3 come with two cameras one on the front and one on the back, the iPad 2 features a 720p capable rear camera where as the new iPad 3 features a 5 megapixel 1080p capable iSight camera, both tablets feature a front facing VGA Face Time camera.

The iPad 2 is available with 16GB of built in storage, on the iPad 3 you get a choice of storage options and it is available with either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built in storage, the iPad 2 comes with 512MB of RAM and the iPad 3 comes with 1GB of RAM.

Both tablets come in a choice of WiFi only and WiFi and Cellular options, the iPad 2 is available with WiFi and 3G whilst the new iPad 3 is available with WiFi and the faster 4G LTE cellular connection, the iPad 2 comes with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and the iPad 3 features Bluetooth 4.0.
